Pre fertilization structure and events
The major events occurring from flower to fruit in an Angiospermic plants are as follows.
Development of flower.
Development of male reproductive part androecium .
Development of female reproductive part gynoecium.
Microsporogenesis that is development of pollen grain in in anther.
Pollination.
Development of male gametophyte.
Megasporogenesis.
Development of female gametophyte
Fertilization
Megasporogenesis that is development of megaspore in in ovary .
Gametogenesis that is development of male and female gamete.
Development of male gametophyte means male gamete or sperm formation
Development of female gametophyte or embryo sac means formation of female gamete
or egg cell .
Post fertilization structure and events
Soon after the process of fertilization, the following changes will takes place in the flower, by which the flower is replaced by a fruit.
Callyx -generally fall off.
Corolla - fall off.
Stamens - fall off.
Style and stigma - shrivel and wither away.
Integuments of ovule - become seed coats.
Micropyle - remain as the pore in the testa.
Synergids and antipodals - degenerates.
Nucellus -absorb or left as perisperm.
Zygote - develop into embryo .
Primary endosperm nucleus - develop into endosperm.
Ovule - develop into seed .
Ovary - develop into fruit.
